The Milton Keynes Inspiration Awards 2018 (event blog)

In June 2018 ,The Milton Keynes Inspiration Awards returned to our city for the second year running!

I attended last year as the event blogger and was in awe of all the amazing inspirational people I was surrounded by.

For the 2018 event I was again asked to write the event blog but also to my amazement I was nominated for Inspiring Radio Presenter!

I remember last year so well. I had just launched my radio show, Mums Life. The inspiration awards was one of my first blogging jobs. I remember saying to my family friends after I attended the event ‘next year I will be nominated and il be collecting that award for best radio presenter’ And guess what?! I was nominated. I got to the finals and I WON!

I cannot tell you how honoured I was for all Of the support and the votes. It means so much!

But let’s not talk all about me because I was not the only winner that night! The Inspiration Awards are about celebrating many different Inspiring people of Milton Keynes, doing all sorts of different things! There was lots of choice again this year! Our city really is full of the most amazing people doing amazing things and these people deserve this recognition!

The nomination process was the same as the previous year.

Categories were released on a Facebook post and you would nominate people in the comments to the post that you thought deserved to be considered for the award.

Then in May 18’ the post was closed. Votes were counted and the top 5/6 nominees from each category made it to the final process and the voting to the public opened again.

This time you voted on the official website selecting YOUR WINNER!

I’m sure the other finalist would join me in saying the voting process leading up to the awards was so nerve wrecking! Personally I really really wanted to win and didn’t think about losing! It wasn’t till the evening of the awards I started actually thinking oh my god I could lose! The nerves were very real that night! I was actually sick an hour before leaving my house...

I was happy win or lose but honestly I really wanted to win!

The winners of each categories were announced throughout the night, by the hosts of the evening Darren and Hawwa Dorrington from MKFM.

Between announcing winners we had some great entertainment from; -KNE -Ishod and Bruce -Bailey Browne & Kazz -Louise & Jess -LBGT -Michael Bublé

It wasn’t just a great night out and chance to get all dressed up, but also A great opportunity to network with people you may have not met. I was shocked at how many people knew who I was because of my radio show and social media! This unique event was classy, well organised and a great way to bring the people of Milton Keynes together. The Inspiration Awards are here to stay and will be back in 2019.
